After completing her studies she founded MANUFACTUR in Freiburg and it is here that the nature of her work was given the time and space to flourish. She created stage designs and theatre posters, decorated display windows, designed publications for Theatre Freiburg, designed award-winning exhibition stands, equipped a motion picture, designed and made steel sculptures and lighting also the design and layout of shops, residential houses and factories. Through all of these commissions Manu Wurch has developed her oeuvre as an accomplished artist.

In spite of all this work, Manu has also found time to develop as a visual artist, she has furthered her love and knowledge of Asian art by studying with a Japanese Master of Calligraphy (1992), undertaking a lengthy painting residence in India (1994) and attending a calligraphy school in Seoul (2000). Her first silk-screens on handmade paper were created during the beginning of this period.

Manu Wurch inspired from the red staining of her childhood works with pure colour pigment, hands and sponges. In her original paintings this technique is highly expressive with an element of spontaneity and joyful vigour!

Since 1992 Manu Wurch has participated in over 20 exhibitions all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Today, Manu Wurch lives and works in Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) and with her husband and their Italian sheep-dog Bacca in Solothurn (Switzerland).
